Tony Arnel has devoted more than two decades to the task of driving sustainability through global built environments.
Tony is the Global Director of Sustainability at Norman Disney & Young (NDY). As the company’s key sustainability
strategist, Tony works across the worldwide network of NDY offices in seven countries.
He is also Industry Professor at Deakin University where he works in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and the Built
Environment, assisting principally in the area of industry engagement with academic research.
His current board appointments include the Energy Efficiency Council (President), Deakin University School of
Engineering (Chair), the Sustainable Melbourne Fund (Trustee) and Forest and Wood Products Australia (Director).
A founding director of the Green Building Council of Australia, Tony chaired the organisation during a rapid period of
growth between 2007 and 2012. Today, he is one of a select few GBCA Life Fellows. Tony also chaired the World Green
Building Council, the umbrella group representing more than 70 green building councils, between 2008 and 2011.
Tony is a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company
Directors.
