As Head of Design and Innovation Effectiveness at the Knowledge Transfer Network, Edward shapes and delivers national frameworks and opportunities for UK companies to grow through prioritising a people-centred approach to innovation. With £6m of investment committed, this means encouraging businesses to generate better market returns by using design to understand people’s needs and challenges, behaviours and motivations to create better commercial propositions.
Before KTN, he was a Director of the leading UK environmental think tank, Green Alliance, and helped steer delicate policy development with MPs across multiple sectors, from infrastructure and mobility, to energy and resource circularity. Prior to that he spent 10 years helping deliver the UK government’s investment in improving the quality of cites through better design. As a Deputy Director at the Commission of Architecture and the Built Environment, he set up the first design-led body CABE Space, to promote investment in parks and public spaces and continues to be a Built Environment Expert for the UK Design Council.
