DesignMind builds on the existing and diverse research expertise already present across Deakin University faculties, and works to integrate these distinct efforts, to promote and build a distinct Design Culture across the University, and as such, drive design-research and design-driven innovation across the University and beyond. In this regard, DesignMind aims to promote and disseminate a distinct trans-disciplinary design culture across the diverse communities of research and practice both in Australia and internationally. Currently DesignMind is will work closely with the the City of Greater Geelong (UNESCO City of Design) along with Geelong based businesses and cultural institutions.

INDIGENOUS DESIGN & INNOVATION
DesignMind champions Australian Indigenous Design and Innovation. DesignMind aims to develop a series of Regional Indigenous Design Charters to align with the Deakin University developed, International Indigenous Design Charter working with indigenous design organisations around the world.
CREATIVE ECONOMIES
DesignMind promotes the value of Design for Creative Economies. We support businesses to embrace creativity in their innovation journey. Provide introductions and access to associated Deakin University entities, initiatives and alliances including Manufutures, Carbon Nexus, CSIRO and MInD Lab.

DesignMind is supporting design strategies for the City of Greater Geelong. Act as a forum to support Geelong’s Sustainable Urban Development and connect design and non-design communities through activities that will promote an awareness of design as a driver of innovation.
